1.      Character, Courage, and Bullies

What do the townsfolk keep telling Bart?  Do they stay behind him?  Why did they leave?  Do they come back?

Who is the bully?  Who stands up to the bully?  What happens to the bully at the end?

2.  Making connections

Have students list the names of all of the characters in the story.  Write down old western characters with similar names. Find out which old western characters were real and which were made up for TV or movies.
